President and Director of the Brazilian Institute for Development and Sustainability (IABS), where he has coordinated more than 200 projects
He holds a degree in Fisheries Engineering from UFC (Brazil), a PhD in Sustainable Development from the Center for Sustainable Development at the University of Brasília (CDS/UnB – Brazil), and a Postdoctoral degree in Social Dialogue and Socio-environmental Conflict Management.
Luis is a Trustee of Fundación Atelier Itd. In Brazil, he has served as technical advisor and director in the Ministries of Environment (MMA); Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (DPA/MAPA); and the Special Secretariat for Aquaculture and Fisheries of the Presidency of the Republic (SEAP/PR). He has also worked as a professor and associate researcher at various national and international universities.
He is currently a Researcher and Associate Professor at CDS/UnB in the Professional Master’s Program on Sustainability with Traditional Peoples and Territories, and at the Laboratory for Advanced Studies in Regional Development of the Semi-Arid at the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA). He is also a Research Fellow at the Innovation and Technology for Development Center of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (itdUPM).
