COMMITMENT TO THE CLIMATE
COMMITMENT TO THE CLIMATE
Commitment to the Climate is an annual event that amplifies the voices of climate action projects across diverse fields such as education, science, culture, the third sector, art, activism, the private sector and public administration, through the stories of their protagonists.
It was born out of the need to create public spaces to share solutions, strengthen civic participation and experiment with new ways of communicating and experiencing a just ecological transition. The project responds to key social, environmental and cultural challenges for advancing climate action, such as innovating in narratives and languages that bring the issue closer to more people; connecting dispersed initiatives and fostering collaboration between citizens, institutions and local communities; incorporating voices often excluded from ecological transitions; and transforming climate concern into sustained collective action.
Since its first edition in 2021, Commitment to the Climate has become a key gathering that celebrates climate action, promotes new narratives, and inspires communities to join the transition.
The event has been held for five editions at La Casa Encendida (Madrid), each guided by a different theme: Madrid Zero Emissions (2021), Mission Madrid (2022), Everything Everywhere All at Once (2023), Stories (2024) and The Unthinkable (2025).
Since 2024, Atelier itd has been part of the team that designs and supports the event. In parallel, we help expand its impact through ClimaX, an initiative that brings the spirit of Commitment to the Climate to local contexts through neighbourhood-scale, decentralised community events that highlight the climate commitment of schools and communities. These events have showcased, for example, renatured school playgrounds or climate missions created by children.

OBJECTIVES
The general objective of Commitment to the Climate is to make visible, celebrate and connect projects working toward a just and sustainable future, showing that transformation is possible and that we are part of a broad community driving change.
Each edition has specific goals aligned with its theme:
2025 | Commitment to the Climate: The Unthinkable. Sharing environmental solutions that until recently seemed unimaginable.
2025 | ClimaX: Valle Inclán, Heart of San Blas. Showcasing how students at CEIP Valle Inclán (San Blas–Canillejas, Madrid) created their own climate mission, demonstrating that action can begin in childhood and within the neighbourhood.
2024 | Commitment to the Climate: Stories. Giving voice to people of different ages, cultures and professions to share stories of resilience, hope and collaboration. A reminder that the future is not written and that we can narrate it together.
2024 | ClimaX: This Playground Is a World. Celebrating the renaturalisation of the playground at CEIP Navas de Tolosa (San Cristóbal, Madrid) as a model of climate adaptation and community living.
2023 | Commitment to the Climate: Everything Everywhere All at Once. Inviting action across all sectors of society to decarbonise Madrid, emphasising that the transition will only be possible if it is just.
2022 | Commitment to the Climate: Mission Madrid. A meeting point to hear ideas already underway that inspire the transition toward a decarbonised Madrid.
2021 | Commitment to the Climate: Madrid Zero Emissions. Sharing practices and solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and highlight concrete commitments already in place.
