Director of the Innovation and Technology for Human Development Center at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (itdUPM) and President of the association El Día Después
He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering and is Associate Professor in the Department of Organizational Engineering, Business Administration and Statistics at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain).
Carlos has developed an extensive career in the field of international development cooperation. He co-founded the NGO Ingeniería sin Fronteras (now ONGAWA) and served as Vice President of the Spanish Coordinating Body of Development NGOs. In 2008, he was appointed Senior Advisor to the Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC). After completing this role, he became an expert member of the Development Cooperation Council of MAEC, a position he still holds today.
He is currently an advisor to several business and social organizations, a member of the expert group Los 100 de COTEC of the COTEC Foundation for Innovation, and President of the association El Día Después. He is also Editor-in-Chief of Revista Diecisiete, an interdisciplinary publication for the dissemination of research in the field of sustainability.
