Professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) and Secretary of the Innovation and Technology for Development Center at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (itdUPM)

He holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering, specializing in sustainable agriculture and simulation models of agroforestry systems.

He is Deputy Director of the Spanish Journal of Agrosocial and Fisheries Studies, Director of the Master’s program Strategies and Technologies for Development: Cooperation in a Changing World (joint degree of Complutense University of Madrid and Polytechnic University of Madrid), Coordinator of the Cooperation for Development in Agricultural Systems Group (AgSystems), and a member of the Research Center for the Management of Agricultural and Environmental Risks (CEIGRAM).

Carlos has served as Director of the Department of Plant Production: Phytotechnics at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. His international postdoctoral experience includes research at the University of Melbourne (Australia), the Unité de Environnement et Grandes Cultures of the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA, France), and the Panamerican Agricultural School El Zamorano (Honduras). He has also collaborated with SENACYT (Panama).
